My husband and I have sort of a unique situation. His 16 month old lives with us and has not seen her bio mom since she was born. She was born addicted as her bio mom was high on crystal meth throughout the prengancy. CPS stated that there is to be NO contact between the two of them whatsoever. I am this little girls mom, in essences, as i’ve raised her and im the only one she knows.
Now- my husbands exwife (our babys bio mom) has contacted us and expressed a desire to give up her parental rights in exchange for not having to pay childsupport or back child support that is owed. We want this very much but i dont know how to do it.
Once she gives up these rights i’m free to adopt our daughter, correct? how do we go about doing that?
