When you are having trouble dealing with breakup it is only natural. There is nothing to be ashamed of because everyone does. The important thing to do is to decide how you are going to dealing with break up.

There are two ways to address it. First is to accept that you are affected by it. Second is to conquer your feelings and become more victorious. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger as the saying goes, but that entirely depend on your approach.

This break up may have been the most devastating thing you have gone through but you don’t have to let it destroy you. What makes you a survivor is you deciding that this moment will not define you. A marriage ending in divorce or any type of relationship ending is difficult.

If you suffer from low self-esteem because your partner was unfaithful to you, make sure you get professional help to get you through these tough times. That also goes for any type abuse inflicted. Seek counselling if these apply to you. Don’t leave this unresolved otherwise you would be dealing with more problems in the future.

When you are dealing with break up you want to be strong after you have gone through all of it. By deciding that you are going to come out a winner and stronger you are going to be helping yourself by giving yourself some positive focus and good goals to achieve. Dont let this consume you. You have to be able to move on. Winning this is learning that there is life after this relationship and finding that life.

Aim for victory over the situation and not just coming out of it unscathed. The best days are yet to come. Think of the blessings you will receive every day and be thrilled for whats in store for you in the future. After all, life is good.

One chapter of your life has just ended because of the break up. Don’t keep on denying it. After all you still have a lot in store for you. One you subscribe to this philosophy, you wont be affected by problems.

Picking up the pieces is tough but dont let a bad break up ruin your life. Look forward to a fresh start. Don’t let it break your spirit. Learn from this experience and you will come out victorious in the end. If you do this, dealing with bad break ups will be a thing of the past.

Momentum And Goals – How To Build On An Inspired Start And Keep It Going

  • Posted on July 1, 2009 at 10:12 pm

When you’re inspired you get a tremendous boost to your energy and motivation. This is a great way to get started towards your goal, yet you also need momentum to keep going to reach it.

You can find momentum literally in DETAIL – one factor for each letter of the word. You can use this as a checklist anytime to build and maintain momentum. Score each factor out of 10 (where 10 is perfect):

* Direction

Is your goal still appealing and relevant? Does it have the magnetic attraction to pull you towards it?

If your score is less than 8, you need to clarify your goal. Maybe the size is wrong – if it is too overwhelming, break it into smaller chunks. If it is too small to attract you, make it bigger and bolder.

Remember Michelangelo: “The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low, and achieving our mark”

* Energy

Check your energy levels. If your score 7 or under, where else is your energy going? Beware the energy vampires.

Low energy can be a sign of working outside of your strengths – what can you share or delegate?

Working with your strengths brings new energy – how can you do more of this?

* Time

Where is this goal on your priority scale? Is it getting enough time to ‘stay alive’? Procrastination is a huge energy drain.

If you score less than 8, the challenge is to find how you can spend more time on this goal. This is a subject in itself (!) so remember that the minimum time is that needed to maintain momentum. Therefore regular inputs of time are as important as the quantity.

If you don’t increase the overall time you spend, how could you use the time you are already spending to build greater momentum?

* Accountability

You may know that making yourself accountable for progress can be a big help in maintaining momentum.

This accountability can be to yourself (checklists, graphs, targets etc) and/or to others. It can be formal (for example, it’s usually a key feature in coaching) or informal. Generally the more people you are accountable to, the stronger the effect.

If you score less than 7, how could you make yourself more accountable?

* Incentives

How well do you use incentives and rewards for milestones on the journey? What celebrations do you make when you reach interim stages?

If you score under 8, there is much scope here. Incentives are inherently personal so you will have an idea of what could work for you.

Experiment with frequency – once a day, once a week, once a month – rewards need to be often enough to assist momentum without taking over so that more time is spent on the rewards than the progress you want!!

* Learning

How well are you learning from progress so far? How effectively are you using the feedback available?

If you score anything under 10 here, there are opportunities to tune your operation. There is scope for working smarter.

Ask : what is working well? What could be working better? What adjustments could you make?

****

Momentum is essential for reaching our goals. Sometimes it builds naturally; more frequently we have to help it along. Now you can use DETAIL as often as you need and enjoy your success.

You Must Fail to Succeed – Success is Impossible without Failure

  • Posted on July 1, 2009 at 7:57 pm

You must fail to succeed. No one can succeed without failing. Most people take failure as exactly that – a failure. However, when one thinks properly it will be discovered that any failure is an opportunity to learn and to grow. Failures are the necessary stepping stones to success. Failure is a resource.

As Walter Brunell put it: “Failure is the tuition you pay for success.”

A baby cannot learn to walk without falling down. A salesman will not make any sales without having been turned down. A basketball player will miss several shots in a single game. A writer will have much of her work rejected by editors.

There is not a single person alive who never fails at anything. Nor will there ever be. Failure is a law of life, without it we cannot grow as individuals. Failure is one of life’s greatest teachers. Think of failure not as something negative, but as something positive.

Successful people don’t focus on their failings, and they never see themselves as failures either. Instead they look at failure as opportunities. They understand that with each “failure” they are one step closer to achieving their aim. They may have to try once or one-thousands times before getting what they desire, but they know that each unsuccessful effort is pushing them closer to their goal. How many times did Thomas Edison fail with the light bulb?

To be a success you must fail. However, instead of thinking you have lost, realize that your failures are necessary actions that actually help you achieve success. The next time something does not go the way you would like, smile to yourself with the knowledge that you are a little bit closer to accomplishing your objective as you must fail to succeed.

Our doubts are traitors,

And make us lose the good we oft might win,

By fearing to attempt.

–William Shakespeare

Most people think of success in terms of freedom and money. The #1 thing the majority of people would love to do if they had more freedom and money is to travel.

There are many ways to travel the world for an average of only $1,000 a month or less.

You can even get free accommodation, tours, food, transportation, internet services – you name it, for free. There are very simple ways to get yourself and a companion booked on luxurious, all expenses paid vacations.

Perhaps the best part is that you can make money, a residual income, while you travel. The more fun you have, the more money you can earn.
