My daughter (20) & her friends drink alcohol at our house?

  • Posted on October 14, 2010 at 5:28 am

She has friends show up with beer and wine (they are all under 21). They always stay over and don’t drive after drinking. Am I responsible in some way for underage drinking? We live in Texas.

Struggling With Alcohol Addiction Six Months Pregnant, Please Help?

  • Posted on September 25, 2010 at 4:17 am

Please no rude comments. This issue is already really hard on me. After giving birth to my first daughter i got severe post partum depression, and i started drinking heavily. six months after having her i got pregnant again by accident. so now I’m 6 months pregnant. and I’ll admit I know I have a bad drinking problem. I really want to get it under control, to give this baby the best chance to be healthy, and to be a good mother to my children. I know I’m a good mother, just struggling bad with this addiction. I just want to get help, but I have know idea what will really help to cure this addiction. I’ve tried counseling and it doesn’t seem to help. I think that god gave me this baby to help me straighten my life out. It could have even saved my life maybe. my marriage was starting to fall apart with my heavy drinking before I got pregnant with this baby. and ever since being pregnant I have been doing my best to cut down on the alcohol. I went from extremely heavy drinking before I found out I was pregnant, to only having a couple small drinks once a week. like two glasses of wine a week. I have had maybe one or two episodes of binge drinking. but I’m doing good lately. not drinking barely at all. I’ve had an ultra sound recently, and every thing was normal and doing good with baby. My baby is developing well, and my doctor said he didn’t see any signs of fas so far. which is good. I’m happy about that. so there’s a good chance I could have a healthy baby boy. I love my baby, I really do and I don’t want to hurt it. I really want help. I’m scared. every day is a struggle and a battle between me and the alcohol. I have to fight to not touch it. which i’ve been doing good, but i’m so scared that after this baby is born, i may relapse back to my old heavy drinking habits if I don’t seek some major help now. but I don’t know how to get help, or what will really help. It feels impossible for me to break free of this addiction. any one ever deal with anything like this, or know any one who did, any advice or help would be great. and please don’t judge unless you’ve been in my shoes. thanks.

Any low-cost alcohol rehabilitation centers in Buxton, Maine?

  • Posted on September 13, 2010 at 1:21 am

I have a friend who wants to get her daughter treated for alcohol addiction. The problem is, they don’t have enough money to afford rehabilitation. Are there any low-cost alcohol rehabs in Buxton? If none, what are her other options?

Can an officer of the law give a minor an alcohol test without parental consent?

  • Posted on September 11, 2010 at 5:23 am

My 17 year old daughter was staying with an adult girlfriend(18 years old)..The officers came with a complaint of a wild party(there were 4 people there),,The owner of the apartment asked for a warrant and the officers pushed past her and went through the whole apartment..They then told my daughter to blow on a machine ,she was not intoxicated…I was not called and she was left in the residence..
I am so interested because she is a minor, she could have continued drinking after the cops left and ultimately died…I am so INTERSTED because I love and care for my daughter who made a bad choice…

Mothers and drinking alcohol while child is in your care??Read Info……?

  • Posted on September 1, 2010 at 3:26 am

I have two daughters a 2 1/2 yr old and a 10 month old. I babysit my niece who is also 2 1/2 yrs old. The problem is that my sister in law was drinking heavily last weekend when a family member brought my niece back to her after a birthday party, she also had 3 other males in the home with her drinking. My sister in laws father went to the home and tried to get my niece out of there and she refused to give her up so he called the police and they came and said yes she was intoxicated but she was in her own home so they could do nothing about it, she was the ONLY parent there!! She is playing it off like she is allowed to have a few drinks while she is taking care of her daughter, I think it is irresponsible and completely wrong, but I would like to know your guys feedback on this?? I am to the point that I don’t even want to watch my niece because that forces me to see my sister in law to whom I want nothing to do with at this point. I would never drink with my children in my care!!
She is a single parent 23 yrs old, that father is in the picture he keeps her mon. tues. and weds.10am to 9 pm. I keep her thurs. fridays and every other saturday. The father claims that he is trying for custody but has done nothing to get that going. This is not the first time she had done something like this, but it is the first time that everyone in the family knows about it and fears for my nieces well-being. I want to protect her so much I just dont know how to get through to my sister in law.
My niece does have a good father but for some reason seems nervous to pursue any custody, they have been separated for about 3 months. One thing that does scare me is that she has had to take her to the hospital quite a few time in the middle of the night, just two weeks ago she had to call 911 because my niece stopped breathing she a an allergic reaction. But I know of at least once she had been drinking and still had to take her to the hospital.
