If you want a happier, more fulfilling life, let go of unhealthy relationships

  • Posted on July 2, 2009 at 7:15 am

Have you ever felt drained after being around a certain person? Maybe you feel like you’re walking on eggshells trying to cater to their ever-changing mood. Or for the most part, you have to go out of your way to explain your actions to them so they can understand your good intentions. Maybe they say they understand how you feel, but yet, their actions are contradicting. Whether or not their behavior is deliberate, bottom line is: you feel drained when you have to deal with them. Could it be that this relationship requires more care and maintenance than you’re prepared to give?

People with whom you surround yourself can make you, or break you. You may have been led to believe that the longer the friendship, the better the friend. Yet, that’s not always the case. Yes, some friendships can be like fine wine—growing in richness with time—but some, just aren’t meant to have a very long shelf life.

Recognize that regardless of how long you’ve been together, if it’s an unhealthy relationship, it can be a kind of toxic in your life; it can be a roadblock in your life preventing you from moving ahead to where you want to go. And if you allow it to continue, your mood will suffer in a way that not only sacrifices your own well-being, but also the well-being of others around you.

It can be hard to part ways with a friend or a partner, even when their behavior warrants it. While betrayal or seemingly deliberate attempts to be hurtful are clear signals that it’s time to move on, sometimes the signal of the end of a relationship isn’t that obvious. Furthermore, sometimes an unhealthy relationship can brew from two people who truly want to be kind to one another, but somehow along the way, they ended up on different pages; they don’t agree with each other, and tension rises. This can be just as unhealthy. So what do you do? I guess this is where you have to use your better judgement.

If after a fair amount of consideration, you feel strongly about maintaining a relationship with this person, then be assertive and communicate honestly with them about what is working and not working for you in the relationship. Give it your all and kindly speak your truth, and allow them to do the same. And after this, if you still don’t see any progress, at least you know you did your best and you wouldn’t have left much room for regrets with “I should have” or “I could have.”

Leaving behind an unhealthy relationship is one of the best things you can do for your well-being, as you make room for more positive, nurturing people to enter your life. As they say: When one door closes, only then can another door open.

In life, we’ll all inevitably experience unhealthy relationships that challenge our minds and hearts so we can learn and grow. So learn from it, grow from it. But recognize when it is time to say goodbye. As you move forward in life, continue to give that which you seek. If you want relationships that enhance your life, help you to be your best, and encourage your dreams, then, offer this kind of friendship to another person. You’ll get out of life what you put into it…always.

Influence Hot Tips!

  • Posted on July 1, 2009 at 10:12 pm

I regularly get told by women clients that they’re not being listened to and have little or no influence in their organisation. My first question of course is, “How do you do that?” Doesn’t make me the most popular coach on the block but, hey, if my clients wanted milk sop they’d go elsewhere.

Because the bottom-line is we are responsible for all of our behaviour and what we create out there in the world.

Ok… of course I know some events are outside your sphere of influence. Take earthquakes for example. There’s no way you could create that natural and sometimes devastating phenomenon. However, you can be responsible for how you behave, what you feel, be and do, if you get caught up in it.

And reality is that not getting listened to so you’re not influential is as much an art as being listened to and being influential, i.e., people taking notice of what you say and acting upon it.

Now, without working with you I can’t know the personal ‘stuff’ you bring to that particular issue. It could be that early on you were taught to be quiet or you were that you didn’t have anything worth saying or you were taught not to speak until you were spoken to or…. a gazillion other dynamics, beliefs or attitudes.

However, that was then and this is now! Even with a personal issue or two, if you want to be a listened-to-influencer here’s my 5 guaranteed to work hot tips…

#1 Mind your own business and let other people mind theirs. Focus on and excel in your own area of responsibility before offering copious input to others. Then you’ll be somebody worth listening to.

#2 Keep a clean mouth. Who’d listen or take much notice of someone who gossips about, undermines or sycophantasises others? Beware the water cooler!

#3 Don’t caste your pearls before swine. If you have valuable things to say, say them to the people who’ll value them. Gradually, you’ll get known for the quality of your input and be sought out and after.

#4 Cultivate curiosity about and pleasure in getting to know other people. When others feel genuinely in rapport with you they’ll be more than willing to listen and consider your thoughts. This is one you definitely can’t ‘fake it until you make it’!

#5 Generate buzz. Whatever the challenges in your work situation, approach everything with enthusiasm and curiosity for what you might learn. Be a ‘can-do and does’ kind of person with inspirational & motivational energy.

And then tell me nobody in your organisation takes notice of anything you say!

Aspire To Be Yourself

  • Posted on July 1, 2009 at 9:05 pm

In the everlasting journey called life, human beings are almost amusing in a strange kind of way. Most people think and believe that they have to “live up” to another family member, relative, or screen idol. Some even have become envious or jealous of popular celebrities and want or even aspire to look, think, and act and be like the famous stars of the silver screen. TV ads and commercials tell us that we “need” those particular services and products to “make” us look better, think better, feel better and smell better. Because of this, some people have become so obsessed in their desire and constant search for perfection that they lose sight of who they really are in the first place.

One of the most unusual ideologies of most individuals is that they truly believe that they could literally “alter” or “transform” themselves into another person. Other societal influence is exhibited and displayed by models and almost perfect celebrities—as they all possess those seemingly unreachable physical attributes, with matching innate self-confidence to boot. But the bottom line is: no one is born perfect and not all actors and models have flawless face and bodies. Not all people are born with fabulous hair and smooth and great skin. So what do we do about it—we improvise and then we compromise. We improvise or experiment with makeup, clothing, products, and services and so on.

We compromise ourselves in the process though, because we become no longer “true” to our inborn natural form. And people who think and feel that they “should” actually alter themselves to look like other person, is moreover an issue of self esteem—or lack of it. The best and most successful goal in life is to “aspire to be yourself.” Okay, now try looking at yourself in the mirror. Ask that person the following questions: 1.) What defines me as a person and what are my goals in life? 2.) What do I want to do and am I happy with my self? 3.) How do I wish others to see me? 4.) What are my aspirations and dreams? 5.) Am I even confident with my self? 6.) Do I really “need” to alter or transform myself? 7.) What more can I do to be happier and most significantly, do I even know where am I going in my life? When you begin to aspire to be you, one does not need to compare for other personalities.

In aspiring to be you, there are no paradoxes. A person has to merely look within to find her/his distinct definition of life and how he/she expresses himself/herself in the community. When you begin to aspire being you, you don not have to be a superhero or a rich and famous celebrity. Just be yourself—in body, mind and spirit. Aspire to be like yourself, the gift of nature to mankind. When you aspire to be you, it is how you present yourself to you, and not defining yourself by becoming somebody else. When you like yourself and find contentment within you, the journey of life would be sailing smooth.

Use Goal Setting To Increase Your Product And Affiliate Marketing Sales

  • Posted on July 1, 2009 at 9:05 pm

All successful people are intensely goal oriented. They know what they want and they are focused single-mindedly on achieving it every single day. Do you really need to set goals for your product sales to increase, or for your affiliate marketing sales to increase? The answer is a big yes.

Goals are an important part of every Internet marketer’s arsenal. This is because goals take you beyond your limits to a world of unlimited power. Every Internet marketer needs to set goals on what they really want to achieve from Internet marketing.

When we first set goals, they may seem impossible to achieve, but if you find a goal that’s big enough to inspire you, you will unleash your potential power, and achieve them.

A way to do this is to write out on paper an amount you really believe you would make from your products or affiliate marketing in a year’s time. Always start with the letter ‘I’.

Also write out the date you believe you will achieve it. Detailed steps on how you would make it happen is essential as well. Short term goals are also necessary, covering monthly, weekly and daily goals which create the momentum and process to achieving the yearly goals. The following format can prove useful:

1. By the end of xxx, I will achieve xxx from my product sales or affiliate marketing sales
2. I will achieve this by xxx
3. I will also give to xxx when I achieve my goals monthly/yearly
4. Believe it with all your heart
5. Read it at least every day or every weekend to boost up your confidence
6. As you read it, feel yourself already in possession of the amount

So how can you apply these detailed steps to drive traffic to your website, squeeze page, blog etc. It’s very simple. The bottom line is that the more traffic you generate the more sales you get.

Just do something everyday to drive traffic to your various sites. There are a couple of free and paid traffic generation strategies that are out there. You do not want to apply all of them, unless you will be pretty much tied down daily.

What you want to do is look for 2 or 3 that you can master. For example, you may want to use Video Marketing, Joint Venture and Article Writing as your key strategies.

So what you should do is write down what you want your goals and objectives to be in relation to your traffic strategies and the time frame for your monthly or yearly plan.

Once you have decided on your plan of action for your marketing plan, make sure that you take consistent action every single day to get the most out of it. Do not stop until you start to see traffic and sales. Then, you can now add another one or two more traffic strategies to your marketing plan to boost your sales further.

Always remember to track your results you get from your efforts. This could be part of your weekly or monthly plan. You would notice that if you do this everyday, you will start to see very positive results and massive increase in the traffic you generate to your products. This will ultimately result in you smiling to the bank.
