How can i comfort my mom, her friend’s daughter is in a coma?

My mom just found out that her best friend’s daughter fell into a coma last night after have a cocaine induced heart attack and she was down for about 15 minutes. They found out her chances of survival are slim and even if she lives she’ll have little to no brain activity.
She came to me for comfort, and everyone in my family’s crying and really upset, and for some reason I’m mad. I know it sounds horrible, but I feel like people with an addiction are selfish because they are only thinking about themselves and not how their choice will affect others. I’m obviously sorry for her family, and wouldn’t wish what she’s going through on anyone, but how do I help my mom and sister when i feel this way?
