Anxiety Attacks While Driving

  • Posted on July 2, 2009 at 12:35 pm

Do you have a history of having panic and anxiety attacks? If yes, certainly this has been hampering you from functioning well and doing things that you normally do everyday. However, you don’t want this to happen so you try your best to still function well in the society.

Nevertheless, there are situations that you could not control, one of which is having anxiety attacks while driving. This is very dangerous because obviously, you might meet an accident when this happens.

So how could you avoid anxiety attacks while driving, you ask? Here are some steps you could do to avoid this:

1.Keep your mind away from the act of driving itself. If you are too preoccupied and self-conscious about your driving, you would grow anxious about your every move. You would start to palpitate, hyperventilate, feel nauseated, and would experience extreme sweating. You would be fearful of losing control of the steering wheel and the car itself. To prevent this from happening, you must not get too focused on your driving task. Instead, enjoy the scenery or think of nice thoughts to keep your mind away from driving.

2.Bring something in your car that would keep your mind off the action of driving the car. Perhaps turning on the radio or playing an audio CD would do the trick.

3.Have some snacks to bring with you should you feel the urge to munch on something at a given moment. This would make you less focused on your driving action.

4.Keep a mobile phone with you always so that you would have a general sense of confidence and security while inside the car.

However, there might come a point when you experience anxiety attacks while driving and you weren’t able to avoid it. Don’t fret because there are some emergency steps you could take:

1.Don’t continue driving. Instead, pull over and open your window or get out of your car. In this way, you would feel less restricted.

2.Practice breathing exercises to calm you down.

3.Paper bags should come in handy so have some in your car in case you hyperventilate.

4.Bring your medicine and water with you always.

Chances are if your having panic anxiety attacks while driving you also suffer them in other situations. Here are some more tips for coping with panic attacks in your daily life.

The Best Ways To Reduce Stress And Anxiety

  • Posted on July 1, 2009 at 10:12 pm

Dad, is it OK if we have a quick chat? I always have time for you son, you know that. Thanks Dad, well as you know and can no doubt hear I have this stuttering problem and it is causing me all kinds of problems. I am often stressed out and anxious as I constantly fear the fact that I am going to stutter when speaking to people. I just want to be able to relax, smile and be happy – in the same way that other people do. Son, I realise it is tough for you and I will do everything that I can to help. Thanks Dad, it is much appreciated.

The above is a conversation that I had with my father when I was aged fifteen. My whole family had been a massive support for me since the age of four which is the age when I developed the stutter.

My dad did manage to help me to reduce the amount that I stressed. He did this by taking me to specialists and by bringing home books about the subjects of stress, anxiety, depression, confidence and self-esteem from the library.

This helped to understand that I should appreciate the things that I have in life rather than always focusing on the things that I haven’t.

I should approach life with a positive, I can do, attitude and that the words “I can’t” do not exist.

Where I am not happy with a particular aspect of my life I need to work hard to try to improve the situation.

I should not accept second best in life as to do so would be to accept failure.

I have been doing these things for a long time now and I have to say that the difference it has made to my life has been incredible. It also helped me to overcome the stutter when I was aged twenty-two.

Helping Employees Through Stress Management Workshops

  • Posted on July 1, 2009 at 10:12 pm

Life is what we make it as the cliché often goes without failing. With the goal to make the most out of life, we are all confronted with all sorts of stress that can hamper our way to achieving the success we have always wanted. If this stress is not addressed to immediately it will take its toll on us, thus eventually giving us all sorts of health problems.

There are many kinds of sources of stress. These are physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, and financial among other things. The question as to which one is most prominent greatly depends on the person who is affected and how the individual is coping with the stress.

Hence some companies offer stress management workshops to individuals or groups to help them how to manage stress that will soon affect them at one time or the other. However, the way each one of use cope with stress is also greatly determined by the stress itself. If the stress is positive in nature, the stress management workshops will tell us that such stress can generate energy that will propel us to pursue projects that we get so excited about. It goes without saying that our adrenalin is telling us that we have to do something before that level of anticipation starts to wane thus ripping us our interest to proceed.

If the stress has a possible negative effect or coming from a negative source then obviously all that we have to learn from the many stress management workshops available for us today is how to handle them without fear, instead with confidence. This sort of stress can give us feeling of frustrations, anger, low self-esteem, and thus making us unproductive, tired and totally drained in all aspects—physical, mental, financial, spiritual, and emotional.

If a negative stress is not managed immediately and appropriately it may well affect our immune system making us prone to simple cases of headaches, olds, coughs, and stomach upset. Back pains and muscle pains are also some of the physical effects of stress. Moreover, stress can also strain our relationship with our family, friends and the people in the workplace and if not managed accordingly can very well affect our performance of duties and responsibilities both at home and at work.

Stress management workshops should not only give us information on the different sources of stress and their corresponding effects on us. More importantly they should be able to provide us with a doable solution and the one that are not hard to follow that might give us another stress in the long run. More anything else what we need is the assurance that all sort of stress can be remedied and are not totally destructive.

Goal Setting Activities That You Should Know

  • Posted on July 1, 2009 at 9:05 pm

Throughout you life you have set and achieved goals. As a baby your goal was to walk. As a child your goal was to ride a bicycle and as a teenager your goal was to graduate high school. Most of these goals were achieved with the help of parents, friends, or teachers. Now that you are out on your own it is up to you to achieve your goals. Buy following these few goal setting activities you will achieve success.

The Picture of Success

Find a picture of your final goal. If your goal is to become a top executive find a picture of a businessperson you would like to emulate. If your goal is to own a big house then find a picture of your dream house. If your goal is to increase your self-esteem find a picture of an activity that exudes confidence and pride. Place this picture on your bathroom mirror so you see it every morning as you get ready for the day. This will be your daily reminder of the goal you seek to achieve.

The Lists

The next of your goal setting activities is to make two lists. Write these lists on a chalk board or white board that can be erased easily. On the left list your long time goals. Be it losing weight, getting an “A” in Chemistry or getting a promotion by the end of the year. On the right make a list of 3-5 interim goals you need to achieve the following day that will move you to your final goal. Each day try and achieve these goals. Do not get discouraged if you fail to achieve all your daily goals. Simply keep the unfinished goals on the board for the next day.

The Reward

The third list you want to make is a list of interim goals. These interim goals are fairly large milestones on the way to your final goal. As each of these interim goals is achieved plan a celebration. Throw a party, take a vacation, spend the day at the spa or go to the baseball game. Plan on including a friend or loved one as part of reward as this will make your reward all the more worthwhile and fun. It does not matter what reward you choose; it just must be extra special and very enjoyable.

The Team

To achieve your goals it is best to assemble a support team. Select a few friends and family and a mentor who has achieved your goal. Let your loved ones know what your goal is. Tell them their job is to help you stay positive and motivated. Your mentor is there to offer advice and guide you towards your goal. The mentor’s job is to help you stay on track and make the right choice that will lead to success. By following these few goal setting activities you will quickly achieve success.

The Definitive Guide to Achieving Your Goals

  • Posted on July 1, 2009 at 9:05 pm

We all have goals that we’d like to achieve, that we’d like to attain. We all want the pleasure of knowing that we had the confidence to change ourselves through taking on and conquering difficult feats.

For example, we set goals every year on January 1st, thinking that this will be the day that everything changes. We say, “I’ll lose 15 pounds”, or “I’ll get a 4.0 this quarter”, or even “I’ll make ‘X amount of money’”. Then, not even midway through the year, we quit. We give up. We fall back in the rut that drove us to change in the first place. Suddenly the challenge that was meant to adorn us with praise is suddenly dragging us down into the depths of ‘hard work’. When we actually have to sit down and devise a plan of attack in order to reach our goals, the majority of us want to quit. Having done this before myself, I can sympathize with that. You have been living in a pattern of regularity that seemed almost effortless and it’s hard to change that pattern by just setting a goal for yourself. But realize that just wanting to change is not enough. You can tell all your friends and relatives about your new plan to backpack through Europe, but it means nothing without preparation, commitment, and enthusiasm. If you don’t have these three things, don’t bother trying to change yourself. You’ll only succeed in wasting your own time.

I created this guide in order ensure that once people set goals of any variety, they will be sure to achieve them. Some goals can take anywhere from 5 minutes to even a year to complete, but keep in mind that if you follow all of these steps without fail, there is no doubt that your goal cannot be achieved.

Let’s get started, shall we?

1. Understand why you’re setting goals

Goals that you set for yourself should be just that; for yourself. Don’t set goals to impress others or to compete with someone who has achieved more than you. Setting goals is about personal growth. The fact that you are taking the steps to achieve your goals is admirable in my opinion, but it doesn’t matter what I or anyone else thinks. In the end, you will receive the most benefit from achieving your goals. It doesn’t matter how many people acknowledge you, or how many people like your goal. If you like it, that’s all that matters.

2. Set a realistic goal

Okay, you know you want to change or improve something, but what? Do you want to go out more, or do you want to get good grades. Or do you want to do both? These are all great ideas for goals, but remember to be realistic. Don’t set goals you know you won’t reach or you aren’t 100% sure you will fully commit to. Also keep in mind that you should set about one or two goals. The problem with setting a lot of difficult goals is that you get so overwhelmed by the time that has to be invested into each one that you begin to start slacking off on all of them. Setting one or two is easier to manage and you’ll certainly be more effective in accomplishing them.

3. Make a ‘top goals’ list and narrow it down to two

Write down the best things you wish to accomplish in as much detail as possible. This is important, so put a lot of time and effort into this. Fleshing out your goals will allow you decide which ones are most reasonable to start immediately. A long term goal like “being a movie star” could definitely take a back seat to an immediate short-term one like “get a driver’s license”. Of course, your list can be as long as desired, but remember to pick the ones that are the easiest to get started on.

4. With your one or two goals, make a plan

Make a plan of how you’re going to achieve your goals. What works best for me is to start with steps that are relatively simple, but get more intricate as my progress grows. Let’s say I have set a goal to learn a new language. I can’t just buy a lot of language books and try to read all of them at once, right? I’m going to have to approach this logically. The first step would be to buy comprehensive language texts and audio CD’s for me to study with. Then I would take a class to get direct practice with a presumably native speaker. I would then try and make new friends so we could possibly study outside of the classroom together. It really is that simple to make a plan of action. And if you don’t know how to start your plan, surf the internet and learn how people with similar goals have achieved them.

5. Enthusiasm is the key

Without enthusiasm, no desire can long endure. While you’re in the process of achieving your goal, never stop being excited about it. Whenever you think about it, get happy and get energized. Isn’t the thought of improving yourself enough to bring a smile to your face? Sure, there will be times when you get bored of the steps you are taking in achieving your goals. But that should be an indicator for you to change things up in your plan. Do you eat the same nutritious foods everyday if you want to be healthy? Do you exercise with the same weight if you want to get stronger? Of course not. As time goes on, it’s natural to get used to the plans you have set in motion for yourself. You can remedy this by adding new steps to your plan. Always remember to keep things fresh so your goals don’t get stale.

6. Make time for your goals

Set aside a decent amount of time for each goal. For the best results, do not spend less than 30 minutes on each goal everyday. There will be times when you start to slack off in this area, but it’s actually not that bad. As long as you plan accordingly to account for the time you lost advancing your goals, you’ll be fine. Remember that consistency is crucial to achieving your goals, so slacking off too much will end up being counterproductive.

7. Never give up

This is my favorite step. There are few reasons to give up on achieving your goal, but difficulty is not one of them. For some, working towards an end is natural. For others, it may not be that simple. But no matter how hard it is, no matter how long it seems to take, do not give up. If necessary, incorporate a support group of your family and friends. Let them know you are serious about tackling this goal and no put downs will be tolerated. There’s no point including anyone in your support group who will hinder your progress by criticizing your efforts. The people who care for you will encourage you, push you forward, and try to help any way necessary.

Goals are very important to have, but setting them is just half the battle. To truly take control of what you want in life, you must condition yourself right now by trying my tips for a time period that you think is reasonable. Keep in mind that you can’t possibly complete these steps in only one day; give it time. If you don’t see any notable changes in yourself or advances in your goals, then try adding a little of your own flavor to these steps.

Be prepared for the trials and tribulations that stand in your way, for they are there to help you succeed and not to deter your progress. And if you do nothing else, repeat this phrase daily:

“I will succeed.”

Use Goal Setting To Increase Your Product And Affiliate Marketing Sales

  • Posted on July 1, 2009 at 9:05 pm

All successful people are intensely goal oriented. They know what they want and they are focused single-mindedly on achieving it every single day. Do you really need to set goals for your product sales to increase, or for your affiliate marketing sales to increase? The answer is a big yes.

Goals are an important part of every Internet marketer’s arsenal. This is because goals take you beyond your limits to a world of unlimited power. Every Internet marketer needs to set goals on what they really want to achieve from Internet marketing.

When we first set goals, they may seem impossible to achieve, but if you find a goal that’s big enough to inspire you, you will unleash your potential power, and achieve them.

A way to do this is to write out on paper an amount you really believe you would make from your products or affiliate marketing in a year’s time. Always start with the letter ‘I’.

Also write out the date you believe you will achieve it. Detailed steps on how you would make it happen is essential as well. Short term goals are also necessary, covering monthly, weekly and daily goals which create the momentum and process to achieving the yearly goals. The following format can prove useful:

1. By the end of xxx, I will achieve xxx from my product sales or affiliate marketing sales
2. I will achieve this by xxx
3. I will also give to xxx when I achieve my goals monthly/yearly
4. Believe it with all your heart
5. Read it at least every day or every weekend to boost up your confidence
6. As you read it, feel yourself already in possession of the amount

So how can you apply these detailed steps to drive traffic to your website, squeeze page, blog etc. It’s very simple. The bottom line is that the more traffic you generate the more sales you get.

Just do something everyday to drive traffic to your various sites. There are a couple of free and paid traffic generation strategies that are out there. You do not want to apply all of them, unless you will be pretty much tied down daily.

What you want to do is look for 2 or 3 that you can master. For example, you may want to use Video Marketing, Joint Venture and Article Writing as your key strategies.

So what you should do is write down what you want your goals and objectives to be in relation to your traffic strategies and the time frame for your monthly or yearly plan.

Once you have decided on your plan of action for your marketing plan, make sure that you take consistent action every single day to get the most out of it. Do not stop until you start to see traffic and sales. Then, you can now add another one or two more traffic strategies to your marketing plan to boost your sales further.

Always remember to track your results you get from your efforts. This could be part of your weekly or monthly plan. You would notice that if you do this everyday, you will start to see very positive results and massive increase in the traffic you generate to your products. This will ultimately result in you smiling to the bank.

Fake It Until You Make It

  • Posted on July 1, 2009 at 9:04 pm

In 1987, I was hired by Allstate Insurance to present a motivational seminar for their sales team. One of their executives saw me speak on TV and thought I could help his team. This was my first motivational speech. Funny thing was that I was dead broke in the time and would be “motivating” a group of salesmen earning six-figure incomes. But, in the spirit of “fake it until you make it,” I created a 20-minute presentation mixing martial arts and motivation. For instance, I’d have one of my students attack me and I’d take away his balance by sweeping him to the floor. I’d then turn to the audience to describe the importance of balance in life. I was way out of my league, but they loved it. Allstate doubled my pay to $1,000 and booked six more seminars. More than the money, the confidence I gained from the experience was life changing. Had I not been willing to fake it I would have no chance to make it.

Part of my pay that day was a room at the downtown Hilton in St. Petersburg, Florida. This was the nicest hotel I’d even been in at the time.

Even though I lived just two miles away; I opted to spend the night at the Hilton. That evening, I sat in the lounge, creating list after list of new goals for myself.

The response to the seminar was so positive that it catapulted my confidence to new levels and I made these goals with a new sense of daring and ambition. This was a major emotional threshold in my life. Had I sat down a couple of days earlier to make a list of goals, they would have been far less ambitious than the list I made that night in the Hilton.
While you may not have yet had an experience such as speaking for a group of executives, what would be the equivalent for you in your life? Is there a short-term goal or accomplishment that you seek that would give you the same confidence boost? Here is a little technique that will help you to get that confidence boost right now. It’s meant to be done with your eyes closed and relaxed so read the next two paragraphs and then close your eyes and walk through the process.

I want you to name that goal or if the goal is really large, name the first step and then repeat this process for each step towards accomplishing that goal. For instance, if you want to change careers, you may want to start with taking a class or a seminar in the field you want to transition to. Second would be to get whatever license or certification that may be required. The third step might be to make the transition. Write these steps down or fix them in your mind right now.

Close your eyes and project your mind forward and imagine that you have accomplished that first step. What does that feel like? See yourself accomplishing your goal. Listen to the congratulations from your friends and family. I want you to feel it, see it, hear it, taste it, and smell the sweet smell of success for yourself. Drink it all in for a moment before moving on to the next step and the next step until you have accomplished your goal.
How does that feel? Pretty good I bet. This projection technique is a powerful way to motivate you and stimulate your sub-conscious mind. It attracts you to the activities required to accomplish the goal.

This works best when you isolate yourself for part of a day and surround yourself in an environment of wealth. The best place to do that for me is to do my goal setting in a nice hotel. When I did this that first night in the Hilton, I just felt rich by being around wealthier people. Mind you at the time, if you had $100 in the bank, you were richer than me, so it didn’t take much, but I think you get the idea.

The opulence of the surroundings convinced me that I would go to a nice hotel each year to do my goal setting. I’ve done this now in Dubai, London, Paris, Hawaii, Germany, Aspen, Grand Cayman and other fabulous locations and you can too.

Spend at least one day in a five star hotel reviewing this year and planning for the next. Even if you don’t stay at the hotel, do this in the lobby or lounge. The strategy is to surround yourself with privilege and an atmosphere of wealth to help you formulate your goals for the New Year.

Here some simple annual goals to set:((

1. Improve your net worth by 10%
2. Increase personal income by 20%((
3. Pay off all debt other than your mortgage
4. Pay off your mortgage (I’ve never had a mortgage last more than three years. My current home is worth nearly two-million dollars)

Another enjoyable goal projection technique is one of my favorites. On weekends realtors open houses to visitors. Go visit million dollar homes. I did this for years. I’d walk in and kind of pretend this was my house. I’d take a deep breath and smell the smell of a millionaire’s home. I’d imagine I was coming home from work and heading for the hot tub with a cool drink to relax and enjoy my surroundings.

Rich glossy magazines like the Robb Report are also ways you can visit fabulous homes without having to leave your own. The purpose of these goal projections exercises is to stimulate your sub-conscious mind to pull you in the direction that you want to go in. If you’ve never experienced wealth or set a goal and accomplished it, then it may be difficult to imagine yourself getting there. These techniques create an internal sensation that you are already there. Remember, the sub-conscious doesn’t know the difference between what is real and what is imagined. This is a step towards creating a new reality for your self.

The Secret Ingredient

  • Posted on July 1, 2009 at 7:57 pm

Did you watch the film “Kung Fu Panda”? I don’t know why I didn’t watch it before last night, but I’m really glad I did finally see it. Needless to say, being about kung fu, the central theme of the movie is self-belief. Confidence really is “the secret ingredient” for success in life.

The movie demonstrated this important fact in two main ways. The panda’s dad had a noodle shop which was extremely successful, and everyone went there for the special noodles which contained “the secret ingredient”. Everyone raved about the noodles with the secret ingredient, even the son, the panda. It was only at the end of the film that he found out that there was no secret ingredient; it was just everyone’s belief that there was this secret that made everyone find it so special. Just the thought made people expect that it would be special and so it then tasted special.

This of course perfectly demonstrates the fact that your own self-belief, your own expectations pave the way to your own perception of reality, and therefore create your reality. The belief that there was a special ingredient actually made the noodles TASTE better. Your perceptions are colored by your beliefs in relation to everything in life. Your internal beliefs, your sense of self shapes all of your experiences and so it is vital that one has belief in oneself, confidence in yourself.

The other theme of the movie was finding the dragon warrior, the best kung fu expert, and this warrior would get to see what was on a secret scroll. There was much competition for this valued position, but somehow, accidentally the overweight panda who knew little about kung fu ended up being named as this warrior. The movie highlighted again and again the importance of belief and trust, the vital importance of believing in yourself and trusting in your own ability to succeed. It also demonstrated the fact that how you look makes no difference, and even your physical ability has little importance when compared to your inner belief, your inner confidence and resolution to succeed.

In the end, when the dragon scroll was opened, there was nothing on it. There was no secret formula for success. All that was seen in the scroll was one’s own reflection, demonstrating once again the inevitable fact that everything you need is already there within you, just waiting for you to realize this fact. The human mind is so incredibly powerful, if only we know to look within.

It is a fact that few people look within, few people tap into the hidden power of our own minds, and this is unfortunate. So many of us look to the outside for approval and guidance, and this is true of even the most successful people. But your true power comes from within, from your inner beliefs about yourself and your own internal expectations. Few of us know HOW to look within, HOW to build our inner confidence. Most of us just accept that “this is how we are”. But this thought process is limiting to say the least; it prevents stretching and growth, and instead promotes stagnation.

Once we begin to think in terms of growth and how we want to be and what we want to achieve, then we can look at what we might want to change and how to change it. Hypnosis is a wonderful tool to use when on a quest for self-growth, change and success. Hypnosis is a state of relaxation and allows you to take a step back, to look at yourself from a different angle. Hypnosis allows access to your subconscious mind where your otherwise hidden self-beliefs and expectations are stored.

Often we are not even consciously aware of many limiting beliefs – we just accept them as “normal” – they are in fact so normal to us that we do not even notice them. But when we begin to look inside, we can identify patterns of thought which limit us and choose to change them. With hypnosis, you can create new deep rooted beliefs, habits and expectations within your subconscious mind, and this is the part which acts instinctively and automatically. Hypnosis allows you to choose to build your confidence, to build your self belief and trust in yourself, and thereby pave your own way to success.

Hypnosis is easy to learn. In fact, you already use hypnosis without even realizing it. Hypnosis is the state between wake and sleep and so you pass through hypnosis each and every time you go to sleep. With hypnosis downloads you can learn to access the state of hypnosis at will. Simply by listening to a hypnosis download you will learn this art. You can, with hypnosis, examine your self-beliefs and choose what you want to change. Then you can do ANYTHING you want to do.

Your mind is totally and utterly amazing in its potential. You can do anything you set your mind to do so long as you believe in yourself. You can get hypnosis downloads to help you to gain more confidence, to achieve success, to achieve your maximum potential. You, like the panda in the movie, can learn to trust in yourself and to stop searching outside yourself for a “secret ingredient”, as you choose to look within, with the help of hypnosis.
