I posted a question on here about my daughter “cutting”.?

  • Posted on January 9, 2011 at 4:21 am

We’re going to go to therapy but can’t see him till June 4th. We saw her physician, she talked to us a lot and kinda helped us. What I don’t understand is how it is so much like an addiction like drugs or alcohol. Even on good days she still has urges to cut. My question is can someone help me understand this more????,,,I HAVE read so many articles and have visited so many websites. My daughter tells me it’s how she deals with anger and deep pain from sexual abuse she suffered from 4 years ago. AS A parent I just wanna help her and get her to Quit this. SO PLEASE help me someone to understand.

Parents – How would you react if your daughter was cutting herself?

  • Posted on January 8, 2011 at 1:21 am

I have been cutting myself for over a year now, and its gotten way out of hand and bringing me more problems, like an eating disorder but I don’t want to tell them about that …
It’s getting to deep, and I’m scared I’ll die from blood loss. I don’t want to die, my cutting isn’t a suicidal intent, it’s just something that relieves my emotional pain and has become addictive. Also, I belive the cuts have become horribly infected and like I said, I don’t want to die! I’ve discovered that I’m not going to get out of this addiction on my own and that I need to help of someone, like my parents. The thought of telling them freaks me out so much, and I;m scared they’ll freak out on me and abandon me or something …
So, what I’m asking is if your teenage daughter told you they were cutting, how would you react?
thank you so much
xx

My daughter is addicted to hair cutting, help?

  • Posted on August 7, 2010 at 4:21 am

My names Meghan, my daughter is Morganne, shes 13 (almost 14) and im a single mother. About 2 months ago my daughters hair was getting a little long in the back so she cut her hair herself (that was the first time she had ever cut hair, her own or others) and she cut it perfectly and she thought it was very fun. My daughters hair was about 16 inch’s after, past her shoulders. The next few days she kept cutting her hair because she thought it was really fun and liked to do it. After about a month her hair was only like 8 inch’s long. After that she let it grow to about 9 inch’s and then about a 2 weeks ago started cutting her hair again. She had cut her hair to like 6 inch’s long then she had given herself a buzzcut and was giving her friends haircuts. Most of her friends now have quite a bit shorter hair too and a few of them got Morganne to give them buzz cuts (all girls). I don’t mind er cutting people hair but shes a girl and she shouldn’t ever be having a buzz cut because girls are not supposed to do that ever. How should I go about stopping her from doing that.

My african american daughter (1 1/2) has VERY dry hair. Will cutting it all off and starting over help?

My daughter once had beautiful thick hair. Then something happened and it turned very dry and will not grow. She wound up with a mohawk. But it wasn’t even either and it was dry as well. I have tried everything I can think of. But it is extremely dry. As soon as I put a moisturizer (non-alcohol) in her hair with in an hour it is dry again like it drank it up and it did nothing. It isn’t course persay, just really dry. It doesn’t have kinks in it, it is just very very dry. She is only 1 1/2 and I want to help her hair. Should I just cut it all off and start over. It isn’t that long as I cut down the mohawk to make it even with the rest of the hair. But the hair just seemed to stop growing all together.
Any tips, suggestions? Help!
Ack ok ok I won’t cut it lol. I use Johnson and Johnson but I did try a regular one from profectiv as well. She may need a supplement but I make sure to feed her from the food groups everyday. Can that still be the problem in that case. Her hair was so beautiful, but i am bi-racial and her father is black. I just blamed him lol.
