Nanny Background Check – Isn’t Your Child Worth It?

  • Posted on July 2, 2009 at 7:15 am

When you make the decision to hire someone to take care of your child, it should be one of those decisions that you will want to ponder a while. What is more important than your children? With society the way it is today, you never can fully know a person just by talking to them or meeting them. Thus, getting a nanny background check is paramount before hiring a nanny. A nanny will spend a significant amount of time with your child.

They will be the one that has the most access to your child. They will be the one your child trusts. Isn’t it wise to get a nanny background check and feel secure that your child is safe? It is difficult enough leaving your child with a total stranger, but what if they had other motives. It’s just not enough to trust your instincts. It is imperative you get a complete background check.

Here are some steps you can take:

1. Ask for at least three references. Contact all of them and ask questions.

2. Let them fill out an application that includes location and date of birth, driver’s license number, previous names, last five employers, names, addresses and phone numbers of close relatives, names of colleges/schools attended and dates, and last three addresses. Plus, anything else you would like to know.

3. Let them know you will do a background check and have them sign a statement authorizing you to do so. If they are not willing to do this, would you really want to trust your kids with them?

4. Call relatives to verify the relationship. Call previous employers and find out if the information given was true and what they thought of their work.

Finally, verify the information given using a Nanny Background Check service.

Choosing a good book for your kid

  • Posted on July 1, 2009 at 9:06 pm

The reasons behind picking a book for a kid are far from being educational. When it comes time to it, kids will make their decisions based on the the size of the book or its attractiveness. The smallest, the biggest or the one with a kitty on the cover are all good reasons for kids to pick a book. In fact, children selection criteria rarely have if ever anything to do with their reading skills. This is why it can be a big issue. Let’s say the the book is too easy, the child will not be benefit from any sort of challenge, therefore little progress will be made. However, if the book is too difficult, the child can become discouraged and even give up reading. There comes the importance of parents in the decision of choosing a book. Parents have to look for a book that their child will be able to understand and appreciate. Also, in order for the child to improve their reading skill, the book itself has to slightly exceed the reading level of the child.

Children prefer to choose what book to read. However, it is recommended for parents to help children pick their books. Books often come with an age range, but because parents know their child, they are the best judge in determining the reading level of the kid.

How to ensure that the book is at the level of the child’s reading.

First, before purchasing the book, get your child read a random page from the book. When he or she stumbles on a difficult word to read or understand, have him or her lift a finger. If by the time your child has completed the page all five fingers are raised, there are chances that the book will be too difficult for his or her current level of reading. On the other hand, if no finger is read after going through the whole page, the book is most likely too easy. Two or three fingers usually indicate that the book is perfect for the level of reading of the child. It also means that the book will offer him or her a nice balance between entertainment and challenge!

To keep a child’s interest in reading, parents need to find a book with a topic that will interest your kid. Most likely, children enjoy the stories they can relate to. Books with chapters or short stories will allow the child to take breaks throughout the reading. Favor books with small chapters or short stories. If there is complains that the book is too hard, encourage your child by reading some of the pages together. You can alternate and have him or her read a page and you read the next one.

What YOU Want – Choosing Goals Right For YOU

  • Posted on July 1, 2009 at 9:05 pm

The selection of any goals is something one should take seriously considering that what you want may not always be right for you. Deciding upon what your goals are going to be should be made only after carefully considering certain factors behind your decision.

Learning how to set goals that truly benefit you either personally or professionally is more of a process and less an impulsive choice.

By simply reviewing the factors that led to your choice of any particular goal you can better determine if it is right for you. Achieving goals usually involves work, commitment and sacrifice so it’s best to be sure the goal is worth your time and effort.

Here are 3 things you want to consider when establishing the goals you choose to pursue:

Are Your Goals Realistic

Establishing realistic goals is always the first step in your selection process. It serves no purpose to pursue something you’re not capable of attaining. An atheist is not going to be the pope, a blind man will not play pro ball, nor will an American become the queen of England! This type of exercise in futility will only lead to frustration that can hinder any inner drive you may have for more realistic goals in the future. It is simply a bad plan initiated by a bad choice.

Remember to review all your decisions or choices based upon their feasibility. If it is doable great, if not move on!

Are Your Skill Sets What They Need to Be

Many goals and objectives will likely require the need of certain skill sets to be accomplished successfully. Do you possess the necessary skills to reach these goals? If not are you capable of learning or developing them in order to be successful?

Realistically embracing from the start whether you have the capabilities or could acquire them in order to reach your goals is a determination that MUST be made. Certain skill sets are natural talents while others require training or experience. If training is involved do you have the motivation and resources to undergo and complete the training? These are only questions that you can answer.

What is Your Intrinsic Motivation

What are the ‘real’ reasons behind selecting your goals? Are the objectives you’ve chosen for your own personal needs or gratification or are they the desires that others may have for you? If you do not share the same desires that someone else may have for you it’s likely you won’t possess the motivation needed to be successful.

This is a tricky question and one that you must be completely honest about, at least with yourself.

The deep inner drive or intrinsic motivation you possess will play a significant role in the successful accomplishment of any goals you may set. If you’re not completely driven to succeed the outcome will likely be unmet goals. You must make these goals YOURS and NOT somebody else’s

Establishing your goals involves more than simply choosing what you want. Further consideration needs to be given to your own abilities and other motivating factors that were behind your choice. Knowing how to set goals that best fit you and your circumstances will save you plenty of hard work, frustration, and heart break. Achieving goals that are better tailored to your needs will be more fulfilling and beneficial to you in the long run.

Mastering Your Mind Power: Your Life is Yours to Live!

  • Posted on July 1, 2009 at 9:04 pm

We have been conditioned to live our reality from the materialistic point of view. In other words, only that which is solid; only that which we see, touch, hear, smell or taste is real. We believe that since when we experience whatever we experience, it is already in our world of reality, and we can only experience it with our physical senses. We believe we did not have anything to do with that reality coming into being and that we have no power to influence it.

We think that we are powerless to do anything but to be pushed and pulled back and forth by forces of the physical world. Since we believe this is so, then we feel we have no responsibility for what happens to us. We feel free to blame someone or some force outside ourselves. We conclude that life (our reality) chooses a few of us (about 5%) to experience the riches of life while the remaining 95% essentially are deprived of those riches.

If you only knew and believed a little more about how much power you really have at your disposal and understood how you can and should take more control of the forces that move you toward the financial abundance or the honor and respect you desire. You would be able to accept that most of the assumptions you have built about the so called real world around you are incorrect. You could even possibly begin to accept a different reality, one in which you have the power and ability to influence what kinds of experiences comes into your life.

Even though most of the beliefs in your mind that shaped your reality were not consciously formed by you, your life is yours to live as you desire. Now I am not suggesting that had those beliefs not been sort of forced upon you by the influences in your environment that you would have necessarily made different choices. Unfortunately, much if not most of the information that could have made a difference in your decisions was probably not made readily available to you.

I am reasonably sure that the pressures from your environment to accept the beliefs you have accepted were enormous. The number of people who would have supported you in forming different beliefs would have either been very small or non-existent. To form beliefs that were different from the prevailing beliefs in your environment would have likely made you and outsider. Being an outsider is probably as troubling for you as it is for most people.

Be advised that many of those same influences and pressures, such as family and friends, the media, and business and religious institutions, are very much alive and operating today. You, however, have the power to convert these influences and pressures into stepping stones instead of accepting them as stumbling blocks. It cannot be overstated that your life is your life. If you are consciously making decisions that the life outcomes you are now experiencing are the outcomes you desire, then consciously do everything you can to keep attracting those kinds of outcomes.

If, on the other hand, you desire to experience more of the riches of life, and if you accept that you are just as deserving of these riches as anyone else, then you are going to have to begin (or continue) to consciously make different choices as to what beliefs you will allow and what path you will follow.

This I know for sure. You can claim or re-claim control of your own mind power. You are the most miraculous of all living beings on earth. You are the owner of a mind that is so stupendous, that as you truly begin mastering your mind power and consciously using it, there is no dream that you can dream that you cannot achieve.

How Does Having A Positive Mindset Change Lives

  • Posted on July 1, 2009 at 7:56 pm

When it comes to goal setting, it is essential that you have a positive mindset.
It is this positive mind set that will see you through all the expected and unexpected obstacles that crop up along the way. Having faith in your abilities is also essential when it comes to taking the necessarily actions on your path to success.

Hence, we see this everyday in people who are considered headstrong and determined. Their self-belief carries them along. Self motivation can be a brilliant thing as long as they can keep there feet on the ground.

A negative mind set is associated with low self-esteem and low self-confidence. Examples include fear of failure. Or self doubts which renders the individual paralyzed and unable to make even simple decisions.

Help would be needed to turn this around. Whether that helps is in the form of self-help or assisted help from a qualified or experienced counsellor. This would be up to the individual.

Knowing help is need is the first and major obstacle when you are trying to create a positive mindset.

Having defined a step-by-step action plan is essential. Not only will you see where you are going. You will also be able to see where you’ve been. With every successful and completed step, no matter how small, would be an enormous boost the individuals’ self-esteem and self-confidence. With each actualized goal, the momentum builds and the individual is motivated onwards to the next step. Then it’s onto the next goal, and the next.

It’s a bit like a baby learning to walk. First the baby has to learn how to crawl before she can stand, and then learn how to balance when standing before she can walk, and learn how to walk without holding onto things before she can run. Baby steps. One step at a time. One task at a time. One goal at a time. Keeping focused is a must.

It is inevitable that there will be set backs along the way. But they would not seem so dramatic when compared to a row of successes. Gradually the negative mindset would be transformed into a positive mindset, raised self-esteem and raised self-confidence.

This is very powerful stuff. It can and has turned lives around for the better.
