Why does my EX husband think that is okay to drink and drive with my children?

  • Posted on April 9, 2011 at 3:23 am

On the weekends he has the kids, he drinks. If he takes them out to dinner, he has drinks. Then he gets in the car with my our kids and drives them home. My daughter is 12 and really concerned when this happens, but is too intimidated to say anything to her father. So when I gently bring up the subject of how this makes the kids feel, he makes me the b!@#$%. Then says its no big deal, or says he can do whatever he wants when it’s his child time. Even his mother (my ex mil) never says anything, and she’s even been with him when this has occurred. Any advise??? I have an ex from HELL.

true spanish non alcoholic drink?

  • Posted on March 26, 2011 at 8:18 am

MY DAUGHTER HAS A SPANISH PROJECT DUE, AND SHE HAS TO MAKE AND BRING IN A TRUE NON ALCOHOLIC DRINK. WE FOUND ONE CALLED ORANGE VELVET, MY QUESTION IS, IS THAT A TRUE SPANISH DRINK? IT HAS TO BE A TRUE SPANISH DRINK, NOT AN AMERICAN ALTERED ONE..I CAN FIND ALOT OF THEM. BUT IT HAS TO BE SOMETHING THAT I CAN DROP OFF AT SCHOOL IN THE MORNING AND BE OK AN HOUR OR SO LATER FOR THAT PERIOD.. SHE WAS GOING TO DO A MILKSHAKE TYPE, BUT YOU KNOW MILKSHAKES TEND TO MELT AND WOULDN’T TASTE GOOD…I NEED SOMETHING SIMPLE IF ORANGE VELVET ISN’T A TRUE SPANISH DRINK… THANK YOU SO MUCH

Easy Non-Alcoholic French Drink Recipes?

  • Posted on January 31, 2011 at 6:17 am

My 13 year old daughter needs to make a french drink recipe for her French class. It does have to be non-alcoholic, and everything I find on the internet is alcoholic. Does anyone have a easy recipe (and cheap) that they can provide me or direct me too? It needs to be able to feed at least 20 kids.

Daughter won’t drink milk- what should I do?

  • Posted on January 20, 2011 at 7:22 am

I have an 11 month old that I am kind of starting to introduce into Whole Milk….. for the past 3 evenings I have given her a small glass of milk and she has gagged so much drinking it that she has made herself throw up!!
I have tried the cold milk method and I have tried warming it up. Neither seems to make a difference.
This is really driving me crazy. Because I have a 4 year old that is a milk finatic and has been ever since she has been able to drink milk. For me this is not normal and I am having a hard time figuring out what to do?
Should I put something in the milk like strawberry or chocolate? Or is that totally unhealthy?

PLEASE HELP!!!

my daughter is 2 years old and only likes to drink milk and very little food. Am i alone?

  • Posted on December 11, 2010 at 9:24 pm

My daughter will be 2 in August. She weighs 24 pounds and is very healthy, Never has even had a cold. She snacks a little thru the day but goes days with only wanting organic milk. I give her food supplements so she is getting essential vitamins and nutrients but only really wants milk. Anyone in the same boat or knows how to help a picky eater?. It drives me crazy and i offer her so many choices.

At what age will you let your child drink at holidays or the occasional dinner?

  • Posted on November 20, 2010 at 4:32 pm

Will you wait until they’re 21?
Or let them drink earlier?
Do you think supervised drinking at a “young” age will lead to irresponsible party drinking or alcoholism later? Or the reverse?

My parents would serve me wine at holiday gatherings starting when I was 15 and it was never a big deal growing up; my husband’s family was like this too, granted this was in London 25 years ago, but still, it seems here in the US everyone is so uptight about drinking.
We’ve raised our daughter the same way (she’s just turned 17), a glass of wine or a beer on occasion, like when we go out, or a cocktail at family gatherings. The other day the mother of one of her friends called to chastise us and gave us a parenting lesson. Now I wonder if we’re being irresponsible or naive, unintentionally giving her permission to go out and get shitfaced? (I know she drinks outside of home, and I’m fine with that. It’s part of being a teenager… or am I wrong to think that, too?)

What are other parents’ views?
