3 Family Friendly Summer Activities

  • Posted on July 2, 2009 at 9:37 am

When the sun comes out, there’s lots of fun things you can do outdoors as a family. Go out and soak in some vitamin D. Remember to apply sunblock to avoid getting burned though.

#1 Family hike and picnic

Get fit and have fun at the same time. Bring the family out for a hike and picnic. That is one of our family’s favourite activities.

With our sedentary lifestyle, the last thing to do on a clear day is to stay home in front of the TV.

Get up early in the morning and prepare hot dogs, sandwiches, fun snacks and lemonade. Make it a picnic spread the kids will be excited about. Also bring a long a bottle of mineral water for each person who is going. They carry their own water. Don’t forget the picnic mat and raincoats just in case. You could split the picnic stuff amongst you so no one gets overloaded. Bring along wet tissues so you can ‘wash’ your hands with them before eating.

Hike up a hill, or around a lake or reservoir, or a park, or a nature reserve. Whichever captures your fancy. When you have walked enough, or found a scenic spot you want to rest in, spread out the picnic mat and have your picnic.

#2 Fun Fairs

Check the local newspapers for the activities in your area. Check out the fun fairs, food fairs, flea markets and carnivals. There should be more of these in Summer. If the circus is in town, bring the kids there.

Drinks may be expensive, so you would save money if you bring your own.

#3 Kayaking

Summer is the time to indulge in water sports. Get a kayak for the entire family. Make sure everyone wears a life jacket at all times. Dad or another grown up can go out with the little ones. My husband and I brought our kids out kayaking one morning and they loved it completely. Everyone has fun and gets a great arm work out to boot. My younger kid loved it so much that he said that was the best morning ever.

Shopping for Attractive, Safe, and Durable Crib Covers

  • Posted on July 1, 2009 at 9:06 pm

There is much to be said for the convenience and necessity of portable crib covers. Pack n plays, play yards, and play pens are essential these days for parents with little ones who need a safe and comfortable place to play. It is very hard to keep the cribs clean though, and we all know that when things are not clean they are not germ free either.

When convenience calls for parents to bring a play yard with them for baby to use during travel away from home, they should also use a play yard cover from coverplayard.com. Many parents have found that these are indispensable. They are like slipcovers for sofas, only they are designed specifically to fit over most of the standard sized pack n plays or play yards. They even attach to the legs of the play yards safely and securely with Velcro straps. The COVERPLAY cover creates a protective barrier between the baby and the dirt and germs that hide on the play yard, which means that the baby now has a familiar, attractive, safe, and comfortable place to romp.

Portable crib covers come in all kinds of designs and patterns on coverplayard.com, and they are available in many attractive, modern color combinations to complement the decor of any room in the house. They also come with their own little matching carrying bag, so it is a breeze for parents to pack them into the car for easy traveling. They are also great for disguising those playpens that have designs that are less than appealing to parents. If someone is tired of the solid blue playpen or the pattern that they have, it only takes a couple of minutes to slide a COVERPLAY cover over it to give it a brand new look.

Portable crib covers not only make it easy to keep a play yard clean, but they also are easy to clean themselves. The materials that the covers are made of are durable and strong, and the feature that many parents enjoy the most is the fact that they can easily be un strapped, the covers can be easily lifted off of the play yards, and then all it takes to clean them is a quick toss into the washing machine.

There are many large hotel chains that offer not only the portable cribs to their guests to use but they also provide these COVERPLAY covers as well. It can be very cost inefficient, tedious, time consuming, and difficult to keep a supply of twenty or so play yards clean, so a more effective solution is to use the slipcovers to help. Day care centers, childcare centers, and babysitters use the portable crib covers for the health and safety of the children that they are taking care of.
