Can my 23 year old daughter have liver chirrosis?

  • Posted on July 25, 2010 at 1:46 pm

My 23 year old daughter has been a binge drinker ever since the year 2006. She drinks a fifth of wine (750 ml) 4-5 times a week every week. She started in 2006 when she met a guy who was an alcoholic and he gave her booze and stuff so she learned from him. I tell her I think she drinks too much but she wont listen to me and says she will not cut down and likes the level she is drinking at. I know it takes many many years for the liver to fail as a result from drinking too much but how long exactly does it take? People tell me it could take 20 years or longer for irreversible damage to be done by drinking too much but I am not quite sure it is true or not. Is my daughter drinking enough to cause irreversible damage? and how long would it take? she has 3 days a week where she doesn’t drink but then starts again as the weekend emerges so I don’t think she gives her body enough time to recover from the binging she does but she claims she loves alcohol and wont cut down. In 2006 she started bingeing when she met a boyfriend who was also an alcoholic. She did have a 9 month break but only because she got pregnant and had a baby girl. Ever since she gave birth she neglected her little girl so she can drink. She has not been taking care of her little girl ever since then she leaves me to take care of the child instead. She drinks in front of her daughter and her daughter probably knows it’s alcohol so she tells her “mommy don’t drink” but she chugs the bottle right in front of the child. I can’t get her to stop so how long will it take and what age would she start to get health problems? Also, the alcohol makes her crazy when she drinks she gets aggressive and starts throwing things, cursing out her family members and her child saying she hates the child and wants her dead and once she threw the house phone at the child when she was drunk and it’s a good thing she missed because that would have been quite a blow to the child’s head but she was very close. She’s very aggressive when she is drunk, she says she wont get liver damage from drinking if she takes Milk Thistle and says she will go to buy it and take it and that should solve all of her problems but how effective is Milk Thistle? Does it actually help?

The Kinoki Foot Patch: The Real Deal Or Real Scam?

  • Posted on July 2, 2009 at 2:48 pm

Our bodies do not have it straightforward. Each day, we’re exposed to poisons in the air, the water and even in our food! It’s hard to avoid this exposure irrespective of how healthy of a life you try to live.

Unless you’re able to eat only organic produce, you could be getting pesticides in your vegetables and vegetables. If you eat meat, you could be exposed to giant amounts of antibiotics and even growth hormones! Fish can contain mercury and other water carried contaminants.

These poisons make it troublesome for your liver to function correctly, can lower your metabolism (leading to weight ) and have plenty of other dangerous effects. The environmental poisons we are commonly exposed to may cause numerous forms of cancer, persistent fatigue syndrome and other ailments.

Naturally, you would like to eliminate these poisons from your body as completely as possible. You could have seen some of the numerous commercials for de-toxing foot pads. It seems a fair enough idea – but do these foot pads really work?

Kinoki and Avon are among the corporations that promote these detoxifying foot pads. These pads were tested on the program 20/20 and by a number of bloggers concentrating on the field of health.

The results? Discontent . Almost all of the subjects who tried the foot pads reported no change in their health or sense of well-being; surprising given that these were prepared subjects who were hopeful that the pads would be effective for them.

The makers of these foot pads make the allege that their products turn dark as they pull poisons from the body thru the bottoms of the feet. One thing which all of the participants did agree on is the pads did, in fact turn dark. The other thing the partakers came to a general agreement on is that they smelled nasty – some even announced the smell managed to permeate their bedding.

So what about laboratory tests on the pads? Again, upsetting ; these showed no poisons whatsoever in the pads after being worn. In reality, testing proved that the pads turned dark when exposed to water – the darkening of the pads was caused by perspiration, not toxins. A straightforward test with distilled water proved that this alone would turn the pads dark.

The conclusion? Simple enough – do not squander your money. These pads don’t detoxify the body and are either a well intentioned but ill conceived product or an outright scam.
