I work at a local company in Maryland (Mont. Co.) and my employee (boss) drinks alcoholic beverages at the office every Friday while working. Not only do they drink but so does their daughter (who also works there) and not even stopping there.. they also give another employer alcoholic beverages while working on the job (who is a friend they hired). Adding to the daughter situation, sometimes she has her children with her and leaves the office after drinking and drives with them in the car.
I have searched all I can but I can’t find the Maryland State Laws about drinking alcohol on the job. And also – about giving alcohol to another employer as they are working. Especially if this is an OFFICE occupation. This is not a bar or some flimsy club.
Drinking and driving are obviously against the law. That is no doubt and I fear mostly for those children in that vehicle. But – this is mostly work related. I think it’s wrong and I know it can’t be legal.
Why don’t I go to the police myself, you may think? Because I don’t want to lose my job if something happens. It’s too hard with this economy to find a new job out there. I would rather gather what information I can and then take action.
Thanks for the time and any answers!
