Teen parenthood: Why do people act this way?

I was 14, almost 15 when my daughter was born. I was always involved in her life (her mother was 15 as well). Well I faced so much prejudice and ridicule. I loved my daughter but it hurt people judged me because I made a mistake. My daughters mother died on prom night when she was hit head on by a bunch of irresponsible teens Driving drunk. Since then, my little girl has been my whole responsibility and there isn’t much I wouldn’t do for her. Me and my mother have had some hard times lately, and I moved out with my daughter and into a one room motel room with a washroom. Its small and cheap but its all I can afford. Its not paradise but for the $400 a month rate I have electricity, water, some cable stations, wi fi, cooling and heating. I cook for my daughter when shes hungry and she always is warm. She sleeps in the bed nearest to the heater (we have two twin beds) and I make sure shes comfortable and gets all the love I can give.
And in spite of it all, people still look at me bad cause I am barely 20 and have a 5 year old daughter. Shes in school during the day and I work at a auto parts garage for enough money to live on. It isn’t much but it covers our needs and not much else. My own mother took me to court over custody for my daughter and the courts gave her to me because I am her father and shes happy and I am looking after her. So why with all the love I give my daughter and as much as I love her and thank the Lord I have her, do some people still slam me and others as teen parents? Its just not right. Age dont matter when it comes to parenthood.
I am currently saving up the little extra cash I get for an apartment. We wont be in the motel much longer than six more months. And I also do not get government help, because I dont believe in it unless its needed aboustly.
