Does anyone have an idea about a parents rights in a “grandparents rights” law suit in AZ?

I am a biological mother of a 7 yo little girl and my ex-monster-in-law wants crazy visitation. Like all summer, every other weekend and alternating ALL major and minor holidays. I submitted my visitation plan of one saturday a month and no overnights. I am being fair, considering she let my daughter go alone with her son after there was a felony warrant issued for his arrest. He is a heroin and crack cocaine user and I made it clear he was not allowed near her. Well we had a hearing for temp. orders and the judge ruled in my favor so far, but i want to know if anyone has had or heard of a situation like this at all? When I google or search for grandparents rights AZ on the web it all is more info for the grandparents. Any thoughts?

would like to find a support group for parents of drug addicts?

i have recently gained custody of my 2 grandchildern because my daughter is addicted to meth. i’ve never dealt with an addict before and am beside myself.

Am I the only one with this problem? Every time I go to the mall for something I actually need I always end up seeing something that would look nice on my daughters or my son. I buy it, I can’t resist. Then I feel bad so I go out and buy one more thing for every child (I have 4). I mean I don’t spend a drastic amount of money, and frankly my hubby doesn’t really mind, but I was wondering if any other mums are like this?

you might be intersted to know what my girlfriends religious parents said to me the other day.?

im not really your average christian

i listen to metal music (slipknot, avenged sevenfold) and cuss (and yes i have a reason why). i laugh at ironic things about christianity and religious jokes. i have alot of friends that arent christian. and i go to church sometimes.

but this guy had the nerve to say this to me.

“your on the path to burning in a lake of fire. you shouldnt listen to the music you listen to because it intoxicates your mind. until you dont your not allowed to date our daughter anymore.”

what do you think about that?

Parents – How would you react if your daughter was cutting herself?

I have been cutting myself for over a year now, and its gotten way out of hand and bringing me more problems, like an eating disorder but I don’t want to tell them about that …
It’s getting to deep, and I’m scared I’ll die from blood loss. I don’t want to die, my cutting isn’t a suicidal intent, it’s just something that relieves my emotional pain and has become addictive. Also, I belive the cuts have become horribly infected and like I said, I don’t want to die! I’ve discovered that I’m not going to get out of this addiction on my own and that I need to help of someone, like my parents. The thought of telling them freaks me out so much, and I;m scared they’ll freak out on me and abandon me or something …
So, what I’m asking is if your teenage daughter told you they were cutting, how would you react?

Here’s some background information: I’m 19, I have a 3 year old daughter, Helena, and yes, I still live with my parents. I’m in a very difficult situation and would greatly appreciate any advice.

My parents are very controlling and manipulative. They constantly ridicule me and my parenting skills (Well, I wonder where I learned my “poor” parenting skills from). I’m always being told to go back to school and get a job — this is absurd, my parents are very wealthy, and getting a job would, in no way, help my current situation. I did drop out of high school to care for my child, I realise education is very important, and I do plan to obtain my GED later in life, but right now my main priority is providing for my child.
Their main “problem” with me is that I would like to keep my social life alive. OCCASIONALLY, a few times a week, I’ll go out with friends, but first, let me say this — my mother constantly OFFERS (I do not beg) to watch my child, she does take care of her most of the time, but she wants to. It’s ridiculous that she would even bring this up as frequently as she does. Why should I not be allowed to go out every now and then? I can still be a teenage parent and have a good time. It’s not illegal. Now, I will admit, I can be a little reckless at time — I crashed their car. They were furious over this incident. And it’s idiotic because they loaned me the car, they said I could use it. I was also intoxicated at the time, but it’s not my fault I was raised poorly. There was also very little damage done to the car anyway, their behavior is so unjustified. This happened two months ago, by the way.

But, anyway, they’re now threatening to kick me out if I don’t find employment to pay for the damage. It’s infuriating because they’re so well-off. Why should I have to pay for their mistakes? I’m just so frustrated right now. I don’t know what to do. I can’t get a job — I don’t have a high school diploma! What are they thinking? I refuse to lower myself to a retail employee, or God forbid, fast food. My ex-boyfriend, who my parents never approved of (yet they made no effort to prevent our relationship, so technically the pregnancy is their fault), is out of the picture, so don’t suggest I rely on him for assistance.

I really need advice. I feel so stuck. I have no relatives or friends I can stay with — nothing. What should I do?

I think my daughter is having sex and possibly drinking! Parents, please help!?

My daughter is 15 years of age. Before, she hung out with her friends at our house, their house, or the mall. Now, since she’s on summer break, she has been going to parties and friend’s house that I don’t know of.(She attends an all girls high school, so the new friends are mostly girls, which is a little weight lifted off my shoulder.)

She has had her friend’s that drive pick her up during the day while I’m at work, and from what I’ve heard from my neighbors, sometimes it’s a young male driving. A few times she’s comes home at 12 a.m a little dizzy and tired. I think she was drunk. I’m scared, and do not want her to get hurt. She told me the guy that was picking her up, and the other friends that have are good friends. I over heard conversations when I was picking her and her two girlfriends up from the mall asking my daughter [her] if a guy and her were going to hang out, kiss. I don’t mind that, it’s normal. Though, we all know that leads to one thing. I’m not one to talk to her about anything personal. Sorry if this is lengthy, but I NEED HELP!

do you as parents think that a teenage daughter of 16 should be allowed to leave home?

she is 16 and we all know that he uses cocaine. I have done my best to try and keep her at home. Letting her know that she is loved and she does have a lovely family etc, but to no avail. He is 22 and i feel that he is too old for her.is this just me or are there other families with this problem? Please let me know as it is now ruining my whole family.
We live in spain in an ex pat community and it is very hard to Know what to do as far as lagalities go. The laws are so very different here and I have noticed that the kids here seem to loose a lot more respect for thier parents because they believe that we dont know whats going on out ther on the streets. I also have a 5 year old daughter who is being terribly upset by all this. my partner has given up now and wont even speak to my eldest. I am constantly in the middle….. help
p.s I only know that her boyfriend uses cocaine. I dont know for sure if she does. I dont think she does….. yet

Drug addiction and enabling parents

I am 34 and have a brother who is 30. He has been addicted to drugs for about 13 years now. The past 5-7 have been particularly bad, because he is now on heroin. He has robbed (including from family), been shot at, stabbed, homeless, jailed-you name it. My parents do not have a lot of money, but my dad married a woman who does, so he is much more comfortable now. All of these years, my parents and stepmother (who has a daughter with a history of addictions), have sent my brother to one rehab after another. My dad has probably spent 30,000 between rehabs, fines, cars and the rest of the stuff. Recently, my brother had been clean for a while, was given a new start in life and blew it after a month when he started on the heroin again. My dad became very upset and FINALLY refused to get involved. My mom promised me she would not take him back, yet she is letting him live with her in a tiny apartment. She and I are not speaking; she emailed me and said he was in an intensive treatment program at day and going to meetings every night. That is a lie; he met a woman who is also an addict and is spending his days with her. He called my dad yesterday and my dad said since he sounded good, he has to communicate with him now and help him.

Meanwhile, my husband and I are struggling to make ends meet. I cannot find work. I finally broke down and for the first time in my life, asked for help. He sent me a check for 200 bucks and told me I can pay it back when I can……he is going on a cruise soon, and they are taking my stepsister and her husband, who is into cocaine.

My dad said I need to stop being so upset. I am so hurt. I have never done anything wrong, my husband is a good man and we are decent people. Yet, all I get is criticism. I have shed so many tears over my brother, I think I am out of them.

Why do my parents favor my brother and my stepsister, who are nasty to them and have no morals whatsoever? They talk to them in a horrible way and expect handouts. It is sickening to watch. I don’t get it. They give them everything and will not cut the strings.

My husband is making me send the 200 back. It is not even the money, it is just a question of why? It seems like I am being punished for being decent.

Anyone have a family like this?

I have an 11 year old daughter and my parents are alcoholics. What should my daughter do this weekend with em?
