my daughter got her teeth removed and i passed out?

  • Posted on February 10, 2011 at 9:23 am

my 11 yr old daughter got 3 teeth pulled today in preparation for braces..She was freaking out while we were driving there and when we got in the room, i held her head while she was freaking out when they put the IV in then 5 minutes later, she was asleep..it took more time than anticipated as she is sooo skinny so the IV meds didn’t take right away…I left the room and they called me back in 30 minutes, they said she was in and out of sleep…when i went in the room, she looked “dead”..me and her were in there alone waiting for the doc to give her a prescription for loratab..I talked to her as they told me too to get her to wake her slowly..I did and she again went in and out of conciseness and talking like she was drunk..Between her acting “not there” when she talked and the way she looked when she passed out again, she looked “dead”…i had flashbacks of when i saw my mother in the coffin 3 yrs ago, i passed out myself…did you experience this when your kids went to get teeth extracted?

I took in an alcoholic who was passed out on the street. Now he’s yelling. Any suggestions?

I know him – he painted a couple of rooms in my house. He’s an illegal alien and I was concerned he’d get picked up by the police and be cut off from his daughter. He’s harmless — when my husband and son were walking him into the house, he cried from shame. I have no 1st hand experience with alcoholism. He’s in the guest room yelling a loud moaning yell. Should I call an ambulance? Any other advice on helping him?

Are you glad Proposition 1 passed in Michigan?

I voted yes for many reasons to legalize medical marijuana, these are just a few. Do you think it is a good idea or a bad idea? Weigh in with the pros and cons to accentuate your points please.

The U.S.A demonizes an organic plant (marijuana), yet advocates the use of alcohol, synthetic drugs such as vicoden, oxycontin, paxil, and many other mind altering drugs. I just don’t understand the logic in that. It makes no sense. PROHIBITION NEVER WORKS AS WELL AS DE-CRIMINALIZATION. 50% of Americas prisons house NON VIOLENT DRUG USERS!!! Want to help fix the economy? Stop demonizing a stupid plant.

One Mothers account

My darling daughter, Caprice, lost her battle against cancer this July. She graduated from college in December, was diagnosed with T cell lymphoma in March, and four months later her suffering was over.

Three years ago, my 72-year-old mother, Phyllis O’Grady, lost her battle against endometrial cancer.

It is heart-wrenching to watch our loved ones suffer. As caretakers, we yearn to do everything in our power to stop their pain and increase their odds of recovery.

Cancer patients develop an aversion to food. Chemotherapy decreases their appetites, causes nausea, and weakens their immune systems. It is a catch-22. Cancer sufferers need nourishment, yet eating becomes an ordeal.

Marijuana, unlike narcotics and other medications, has minimal side effects and major benefits. It increases appetites, reduces nausea, eases muscle pain, reduces stress, and allows patients to get much-needed rest and relief from their symptoms. It also is non-addictive.

I wish my daughter and my mother would have had legal access to this option. Our loved ones deserve all the comfort and compassion we can provide throughout their very difficult — and very painful — journeys.

My husband addicted to drugs but PASSED drug test! How can this be??? BIG MESS! HELP!!!?

  • Posted on August 21, 2010 at 3:20 am

I am going through some VERY hard times right now. I have been married for 15 years to this man & since the past 4 years he started using & abusing drugs. (Lortabs, oxycontin, oxycodone, percecets, morphene suckers and marijuana & whetever else he could get his hands on. LONG story short, his abuse has destroyed our family. I have 2 children, one is 19 yrs old from former relationship, (I got married to him when she was only 3yrs). We also have a daughter together who is now 3 years old.
He had gotten so out of control he threatened to hit my 19 yr old & I stepped in between to protect her & he threatened to knock us both in the floor, but didn’t. I ended up leaving with my 2 girls hoping things would calm down in a day or two. I called him to try to see what frame of mind he was in to see if it was safe to return home, he only sounded as MAD as ever!!! He says it’s because I took our 3 yr old girl. (I didn’t want to, but I felt I had to for everyone’s safety). Well, he actually made threats against me & my 19 yr olds life on about 4 different phone calls…..(he didn’t come right out & say he would “kill us”, but it certainly was implied! Such as saying things like …”I will use all my money, power & resorces to get you & Joshualyn (my 19 yr old daughter) out of the way!!!” because he said that “NO ONE will ever keep him away from his daughter!” (our 3 yr old). another time he said “because I have done this unpardonable sin (of taking our 3 yr old away) that I am driving my own nails in my coffin!” The man isn’t even in his right mind anymore! anyway, that was just a couple phone conversations with him. Well of course I have a protection order now & I filed for a divorce about 2 weeks ago. (this all happened about 1 month ago now). Ok, now we have our lawyers & I demand hair follical drug testing because I KNOW with my own eyes for a FACT he did drugs! But lo & behold HIS HAIR & URINE test came back CLEAN!!!! How can this be??? Does anyone know HOW someone can pass a test like that when you are indeed doing drugs? Oh yes, I need to say that this past June (after years of pleading) he did go to a detox place, which he did just now complete, BUT he was Still smoking pot up till the day I left 1 month ago. & was also abusing the narcotic “Subutex” they gave him to get off ALL the other junk! SO why didn’t ANYTHING show up???? Please help, I don’t know how he could have done this! ???

My father passed away a year ago today. What should I do to celebrate his life?

Additional notes:
* My Da was a binge alcoholic… the majority of my family see me (I’m guessing) as a really crappy daughter. I’m not easily led.
* He was a pilot… a very intelligent man… he could fix or better anything mechanical.
* He was musical… loved voice and guitar.
* He lived for women… he loved his good looks and influence.
* He was kind… regardless of how little he had… he’d give.
* He was shy, unless the drink was into him.
* I loved him.
