The Central Principle of the Law of Attraction

  • Posted on July 2, 2009 at 7:15 am

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last 10 years, it is likely that you are familiar with a quirky little television program known as The Oprah Show.

If you watch the program often, you may have seen an episode in which they discussed the Law of Attraction Because the theory is so cutting-edge, the principle of the Law of Attraction can seem somewhat difficult to grasp if you don’t know the whole story.

The concept at the heart of the Law of Attraction is that we can control what life gives us by controlling our thoughts. The ideas cover everything from getting the job you want to getting the mate you want. People in both the scientific and spiritual communities accept the Law of Attraction as fact.

If you talk to a Quantum Mechanics scientist, you can discover the true depth of what the Law of Attraction is getting at. Quantum Physics demonstrates that the whole world is made up of energy, and our minds — which are also energy — can manipulate the energy of objects and thoughts outside ourselves.

But as you know, everything good has a reverse, and this includes the Law of Attraction. If you want something, but think about being afraid of NOT getting it, then there is a good chance that what you want to avoid will actually happen. Experiencing what we want to avoid may not seem like a good thing, and it isn’t, but it does help prove the principle of the Law of Attraction. When the relationship ends, it may seem to that person that the Law of Attraction failed them. Their desire to stop the marriage from ending didn’t come true. But in fact, the Law of Attraction worked perfectly. It doesn’t necessarily bring us what we WANT. It brings us what we CONCENTRATE ON. The married spouse concentrated on not wanting to lose their partner, and thus they attracted losing their partner.

There is no difference between what you concentrate on wanting and what you concentrate on not wanting. Concentration is concentration. So the Law of Attraction brings you the thing you focused your thoughts on.

To create the life you want using the Law of Attraction, you must banish all fear and concentrate only on moving toward exactly what you want. If you do, then what you want will move toward you, as well.

Kirk James is a technical writer, researcher, software developer, and happily married man. Understanding the heart of the law of attraction started him on his road to success, but it wasn’t until he understood the 11 Forgotten Laws of Attraction that the world became his for the taking. A Clear and Present Mind – Meditation and Flow

  • Posted on July 1, 2009 at 10:12 pm

Most people lead normal lives. Those lives are, generally speaking, repetitive – where anything spectacular rarely happens. Of course, the normal life is punctuated by the spectacular – falling in love, marriage, the birth of a child, the odd special holiday. But, generally speaking, normal lives plod along.

Research tells us that at least 96% of us are normal and that normal people are rarely really engaged in or attentive to what they are doing in the here and now – research estimates that the normal person is only 1% engaged. In other words, the normal person is only 1% present in the only place and time we have – the here and now. If you consider the findings of quantum physics, that the universe works on the basis of energy exchange – that is universal energy responds to our input of energy – it is little wonder that the spectacular is a rare occurrence in the normal life. After all, universal energy will hardly notice if one only invests 1% energy in the present moment.

The same research indicates that normal people rarely experience “peak performance” – that’s the spectacular that I was talking about a moment ago. However, we also know that we can experience peak performance or peak experience if we become more engaged or more attentive in the present moment. You see, a peak experience is peak because it is so out-of-the-ordinary that it grabs more than 1% of our attention – an abnormal amount of our attention. When our attention is that engaged, parts of our brain that are otherwise inactive become highly activated. It also works the other way around. If we deliberately pay more attention to the present moment, if we deliberately become more engaged in the here and now, those same parts of our brain become highly activated and, as a result of our own choice, we experience a peak moment. Or, to put it in terms of the University of Chicago, we experience “flow”.

When we are in flow, universal energy flows with us. Because we are abnormally present to the moment, universal energy notices and gives us an abnormal return on our investment. Life flows – we seem to be the right person in the right place at the right time. Things we need to happen simply fall into place. We stumble across opportunities that take us in the right direction. Carl Jung would have called that synchronicity. A quantum physicist would explain it in terms of universal energy’s ability to respond to our intentions.

Many of us have experienced that type of “flow” – at some point in many lives it comes naturally. But, the more burdened we become by the cares of everyday life, the less likely we are to experience flow. That’s when many of my clients meet me for the first time. They either find themselves at a crossroads in their professional or personal lives and hanker after that “flow” that they may have once experienced or that they inherently know is “out there”.

In fact, flow is “in there” – it is within. Flow is found by calming one’s mind. Research tells us that the normal mind has 50,000 random thoughts – most of them useless – each day. That noise in our heads distracts us, takes us away from the moment, disables our desire to be more present and focused, more effective and “turned on” in the here and now. As a result, flow doesn’t flow! We get stuck in the rut that is repetitive normal living – where flow is no longer experienced, where life becomes mundane and routine.

To re-experience flow, you have to take an inner journey, one which involves switching off that useless distractive noise. It’s as simple and as challenging as that! Because our thoughts will always be with us, we have to learn how to let them pass, we have to learn how not to give them our energy. In doing so, we begin to learn how to invest an abnormal amount of our energy in the present moment. In doing so, we activate those otherwise dormant areas of our brain and, once again, experience flow.

How does one turn off that incessant inner chatter? I give my clients a variety of “mental tools” – but the one that’s most effective is meditation. Meditation is like a multi-purpose power tool – it gives you the ability to ignore the mental noise completely and not only enter into flow whilst meditating – but enables that clear and present state of mind become your default state of mind as you go through your normal day. In that way, your normal day becomes abnormal, your ordinary life becomes extra-ordinary.

Many people meditate – and, for many, it makes precious little difference in their lives. But meditation, practiced with the purpose of disciplining the mind to pay attention to the here and now, will bring you into flow, will change your life – beyond recognition.

But, be under no illusion. Meditation is a lifelong journey requiring discipline and daily commitment. However, for the investment of a few minutes in each twenty four hours, the returns are more than well worth it.

Does Putting a Hex on Someone Work?

  • Posted on July 1, 2009 at 9:04 pm

What is a hex? A hex is a spell for bad luck put on a person. Often it’s not just for one bad thing but a lifetime of woe and despair. The hex might be called the evil eye, a whammy or a curse. The term hex is a Pennsylvania-Dutch derivation of the German word “hexen” which means to practice sorcery.

Many people associate hexes with gypsies and voodoo, regardless of whether the term got its start from the German language. Images of voodoo queens leaving a small bundle of herbs hidden in their victim’s house or gypsies pointing a finger and declaring the recipient hexed are part of our world, via the cinema and television. However, those that put hexes on others aren’t necessarily practitioners of either. Some are just people with a strong hankering for revenge, the primary reason for a hex.

As with most discussions on the occult, hexes and their viability are greatly debated. Some people believe that they work, but only if the person hexed knows that they had a hex put on them. In this case, it’s the power of suggestion or the self-fulfilling prophecy. Others believe that all people have the power to alter matter and therefore control events. The advent of discoveries in quantum physics help to put their views into a more favourable light.

Albert Einstein created the hypothesis that matter is neither created nor destroyed, simply converted. E=MC2 is an equation most school children know, even if they don’t understand it. E stands for energy, the M is mass and the C is the speed of light in a vacuum, what it takes to convert mass into pure energy. The formula represents the fact that energy and matter are really one. Quantum physics experiments show that when an observer watches an experiment, it changes the outcome. The proved that the observation has the power to turn a wave, energy, into particles, mass. So, why is it so difficult to believe that the mind of an individual doesn’t also contain that same power?

There was a study done in Washington, DC where hundreds of advanced yogi’s meditated on peace in the city for one month. The result was a lower violent crime rate for the city. Dramatically lower than the average. Was this simply serendipity or did they have an effect? Another study used a random number generator and two control groups. One group was supposed to will the generator to show x’s and the other was to will it to show O’s. The results showed a marked increase in x’s for the group willing x’s and O’s for that group. Had they controlled the computer?

If these studies are indicators of the potential, then hexes are possible. Ah, the law of attraction now comes into play. Whatever you focus on, you receive. Normally this means that if you think all is lost, you can bet it is but if you believe that good comes from something, you’re also right. In the case of a hex, you focus on evil or a bad outcome for someone. What occurs? With so much focus and ill intent, you need to watch out because it comes back to you. Many early religions that practice hexes and spells have the law of three fold. It simply means what you put out into the universe, in terms of spells or hexes, comes back to you only three times more lethal.
