My sister is a heroin addict and drags my 3 yr old niece around with her. Is it better to put baby in system?

  • Posted on October 20, 2010 at 3:20 pm

I’ve heard horror stories about foster care and the CPS system, so I’m weighing that against the enviroment that the baby is in now. I’m torn between calling CPS and getting them involved or leaving my niece and the situation alone. I know they are staying in a drug motel, just a really bad situation. I would call my sister’s probation officer, as well, and hopefully have them take her to jail- atleast I know she’d get clean in there and not overdose on the streets after having her child taken from her. Maybe after getting out, she’d be clean and rational enough to make the right choices and get her daughter back with the goal of giving her a better life.
I just don’t know if I should just leave the whole thing alone or lead officials to her and break up that whole sick little “party”.
I can’t take the baby to live with me, where I’m at in my life- it just isn’t possible. It’s CPS foster care or leave her where she’s at.
What would you do?

How do we stop the meth epidemic from flooding the foster care system?

  • Posted on August 20, 2010 at 10:20 am

I’ve been talking with several caseworkers recently and I’m astounded at the number of foster children that are resulting in adoptions due to their bio families not being able to get clean from Meth. What else can we do as a community to get folks to get clean (or don’t start at all) so they can raise their children?

My current foster daughter is in care due to Meth. She was born addicted to it. I’ll be adopting her next month because her bio mom just can’t stay clean or out of jail.
My foster daughter is mentally handicapped due to her mother’s Meth abuse. It IS that bad.

Double Jeopardy / DMV /Court System / DWI?

  • Posted on August 2, 2010 at 5:22 am

Is there a statue of limitations on DWI? If not why not? I can assault you with a gun and there is a statue. I can rape your daughter and theres a statue. But if I drive a car under the influance of a drug called alcohol my life becomes a living hell. WHY? From what I understand We The People can sue a known drug dealer for turning our childeren into junkies. Well then why can we not sue the us goverment for turning us into alcoholics. It’s a drug! They sell it! But see It’s “OK” for them to do that. And It’s OK for them to arrest us and pay LARGE fines and court cost ECT.. And after all that THEN you must deal with DMV which is just another court to deal with so is this not DOUBLE JEPERDY. Anything else in the court system would be considered as much. I have met many people out there in the world that became wino’s and street people with no hope in life due to a “DRIVERS LICENE. Catch 22 against the people.

Why My Family Needed a Water Filtration System: a True Life Experience

  • Posted on January 8, 2010 at 4:20 pm

My family needed a water filtration system for our home.  The chlorine content that the treatment facility says is “safe” makes our drinking water taste terrible.  My wife went to make spaghetti and found that yellow residue was all over the bottom of the pot.

I thought she was exaggerating, but you could see the yellow dust sink to the bottom as the water heated up.  She threw it out and cooked something else that night.  I put off going to the store that night.  It was late and I didn’t think that the need for a water filtration system was that severe.  I definitely thought it was safe for the dogs.

I went ahead and filled up their bowls and went to bed. During our morning walk, much to my dismay I found that all three of them had developed diarrhea and there was a distinctly yellow color to it, so it was pretty easy to identify the problem.

So, I went to the store and bought that water filtration system that screws on to the kitchen faucet.  After a couple of days, it started leaking.  I’m pretty handy, so I know that I installed the thing correctly.  By the end of the week, water was spraying everywhere whenever we tried to use it.  The dogs had gotten better, so we decided to give them bottled until I could do a little research and find a better quality water filtration system.

In the meantime, my daughter’s asthma got worse.  She would have several attacks every day, but only at home.  During an after hours visit to her pediatrician, I read in a health magazine that chlorine vapors trigger asthma attacks and that the effects are worst in the bathroom during a shower, but that the vapor can linger in the house throughout the day.  This added to my dilemma.  I didn’t even know that there was such a thing as a shower head water filtration system.

Through the internet, I found performance comparison charts and learned about things like certifications for the in home water filtration system.  It’s purely voluntary, but companies can have their products evaluate by independent laboratories and post the results.

I also learned that in addition to chlorine, there are thousands of other chemicals to worry about, along with things like cysts.  I had to look it up.  It refers to the “oocyst” stage of microscopic organisms.  During that stage, they are resistant to even chlorine disinfection.  So, the stuff that was making my daughter and my dogs sick wasn’t even protecting us from parasites or bacterial infections.

I found that there was a water filtration system for the whole house that could better protect my family’s health.  Since my wife and daughter both like to take baths, rather than showers, I thought it was a good investment.

Just wanted to share my story, in case you need a water filtration system, remember to do a little research first.  There are really good ones and really bad ones, so you really have to be careful.

What is the deal with crack cocaine, the law and the court system?

  • Posted on January 1, 2010 at 7:00 pm

My 6 year old daughter is stuck with her mother who is addicted to crack. My daughter isnt being taken care of properly, bathed, fed or anything else. My ex wifes mother, father, brother, 15 year old daughter and 21 year old son have all called the police and DCS for her addiction, child neglect and her trying to steal etc. I pay $140 a week for child support and the ex doesnt work. My daughter sees none of this money and not only do I not get to see her, but I also dont get to talk to her because my ex is homeless with my daughter and has no phone. I have been in court for 3 months with this and still havent gotten anything accomplished. I cant complain about my attorney because he is doing everything possible and I have spent thousands of dollars. She has done nothing the judge has ordered and hasnt even gotten an attorney. I work everyday and have a good stable job and Im not on drugs. I am out of ideas other than doing something that I will be in jail for. Any ideas on what to do?

What to do about my ex driving my daughter with alcohol and oxycotin in his system?

  • Posted on January 1, 2010 at 7:00 pm

My ex-husband is supposed to have my daughter on xmas eve this year. I know he will be going to his family’s xmas and I have been there before so I know there will be a lot of drinking. I don’t think he’s stupid enough to get drunk but i know he will have at least three or four beers. He also is on oxycontin for “body pain” and on special occasions (such as xmas eve) he takes one or two more than he is perscribed. It is supposed to be snowy and rainy on xmas eve and he had to drive my daughter about 15 minutes out of our town. I am afraid that he will drink three or four beers with this oxycontin in his system and then drive her home on icy, snowy roads. I’m not sure what to do to prevent this or if I shoudl talk to the police to watch out for him when he’s driving. I want to know my daughter is in safe hands and I don’t think she will be with him that night.
court ordered he can have her until 9 am xmas day so i cant get her
she is only two so she can’t tell him to stop or tell me that he’s drunk
