Track marks from heroin?

My ex came over to visit our daughter. I won’t let him leave my place with her. He’s been addicted for years now. We haven’t seen him in about a year. He looks terrible. His track marks are on his knuckles and hands. They are open sores. His hands are swollen and turning bluish. How the hell can he still do this? Will it ever end? I’m so frustrated and scared for my daughter. She didn’t notice. Thank God. Can someone please respond who is or has been in this situation.
